Information for Patients

Outpatient policy

Niigata University Medical and Dental Hospital has been designated an advanced treatment hospital and provides outpatient consultations with a focus on the continuity of healthcare. We also promote regional cooperation and contribute to enhancing the quality of community healthcare.

Consultation procedure

As we are a designated advanced treatment hospital, please be sure to first visit your local medical practice to obtain a referral (patient’s medical report) prior to visiting us.

Please note that consultations are available without referral in all departments for an additional fee of 3,150 yen (special fee based on mixed medical care service expense not covered by health insurance, tax inclusive) with the exception of the following departments: Neurology, Medical Oncology, Orthopedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Pediatrics, Radiation Oncology and Diagnostic Radiology. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Please be aware that patients are entitled to consultations with up to three departments per day regardless of the nature of the consultation (revisit, with appointment, or without appointment). Please also be aware that new patients are entitled to a consultation with only one department per day.
